Cassis
Admire
...Snuggled
up between 2 classified natural sites, Cassis is a charming small port. The reputation
of which widely crossed the borders of the South of France. The cliffs of the
cap Canaille in the East and the massif of creeks on the West will be pauses for
your visit. | |
The road
of the Crete climbs the massif of Saoupe up to the cap Canaille and deceives the
dizziness at the top of the cliffs of Soubeyran, the highest of France. The photo
over the village of Cassis since the heights of the cap Canaille, will be simply
vertiginous ! | Road

| Creeks,
accessible on foot or by boat, deserve and so try hard to protect their heart
of pure beauty. Their names are also sweet and crystal clear as their waters:
Port-Miou, Port-Pin, En-Vau, Sugiton, Morgiou, Sormiou. It is in this last one,
in 1991, that Henri Cosquer, during a dive, made the discovery of a cave, thirty
seven metres below the sea level. Its walls are decorated with rupestral motives
dating 27 000 years. From the port of Cassis, you have no right to miss the ballad
in sea which will see you discovering creeks.

...The weekend,
this sea resort is a destination appreciated by the inhabitants of Marseille,
offering to the visitors, very beautiful beaches, shaded alleys fishermen's houses
of which facades colored call to stroll, a small typically Provençal port, and
numerous entertainments: night-concerts, exibitions of paintings, nautical activities,
Casino, night-club etc.... The
old districts of this fishermen's village were built in 17th and 18th centuries
when the inhabitants of Cassis abandoned the first village perched near the private
castle which protected them. |

Taste
...Very
frequented in summer, the village keeps all its charm when we go off season or
early in the morning. To eat urchins sprayed with a local white wine of Cassis,
in the sun of winter is an incomparable pleasure ! And
yes, the vineyards of Cassis produce excellent wines. The vineyard spreads out
on hillsides in calcareous soils, being perfectly convenient for the culture of
the white wine. Cassis obtained the AOC from 1936. One of the very first of France
