Le palais du Pharo

It is Napoleon III, seduced by the panorama which we embrace from this cape, who asked that we build him here a residence "foot in the sea". Marseille, grateful to its emperor to whom it owes its new port, offers him the ground. The architect Lefuel, the creator of the Palace of the Louvre, draws this building with a simple architecture but respecting the status of the emperor.

Le pharo

La Corniche KENNEDY Walk of the seaside, it offers a panoramic sight over beaches and islands (le chateau d'if, the Frioul). Formerly, it connected the Old City with the district of fishermen' small houses. Today, it is a space of enjoy for the inhabitants of Marseilles. Walkers, joggers, rollers, fans of the bronzing and the aquatic sports, fishermen and night birds take advantage of this exceptional place. Prado Avenue and Borély place, thanks to beaches and to several terraces with sight on sea are an inescapable place. From morning till night, cross themselves there, walkers, sportsmen, addicts of the bronzing, those who prefer the terraces of cafe and naturally, the night birds. Several sportive and cultural events are organized there.

Avenue du Prado

Prado pulled for a long time its charm of its magnificent vault of plane trees. It offers a North-south perspective of the Door of Aix to the obelisk of Mazargues. The provencal markets which are held here confer to it in the morning a big animation.
